At this phase we gather as much information as possible about the project. We chat, we discuss, we develop diagrams, we ask and answer questions, we look for inspiration in museums, books and online. We experiment, we try out new things and we generate a lot of random and rough sketches.
This is some time that we take to let our brains to digest the idea. People think that we procrastinate but actually we take this is one of the most important phases in order to develop an unanticipated solution. We go to nature, we cook a nice meal, we work on a side project and we go to see an abstract exhibition.
And here we are! We see bright light in the end of the dark tunnel and it's an unanticipated possible solution. Most probably is 2am when the idea appears, so we are taking quick notes with semi-closed eyes. We are usually the happiest people in the world at this phase!
The excitement and butterflies in our stomach went through at this phase and we have look at the big picture. What makes this idea the best solution? Is the target audience going to like this idea? Is it inclusive? A lot of questions that we have to answer before we proceed with the execution.
It's time to execute that unanticipated idea that made it to the end. This is the hard work phase! A lot of technical stuff, a lot of trial and error and third party communication with printers, photographers, developers or copyrighters. We finalise the design and it’s time to publish it without any shame!
